Nina Scarsbø and Kim Kvello: Never is less
Kim Kvello (1987) second year Bachelor program at the Art Academy in Trondheim
Kim Kvello's work is based on painting, the inspiration ranging from minimalism to abstract expressionism. The canvas has been replaced with different surfaces that possess sculptural qualities. The works are often subjected to a picturesque abuse, where ambivalence between the precise and the chance to appear. Kvello explores the material's possibilities while he works against the material's capabilities. The works can often result in an ongoing state where the work is broken down and rebuilt as a longing for itself.
Nina Skarsbø (1984) is the last year of Bachelor program at the Art Academy in Bergen
Nina Skarsbø works with large sculptural installations and video. Mose, wood and plaster are items that you see in many of her works. In terms of materials, nature is often incorporated through organic structures. In recent years, Nina Skarsbø explored nature, both thematically and as a conscious choice of materials to achieve the feelings and experiences she wants to convey. Skarsbø is keen to use nature as an expressive instrument, and as an object of representation. Nature is omnipresent in the absolute sense of the term.
